Tim Burton is not your typical movie director. The settings of his movies are usually depicted in blac-white or striking hybrid colors with darkish tone. It can be subtly concluded as goth. I’ve always like his movies. It is eccentric and there is a tame raw-ness in his films. Usually, Tim Burton will work together with Johny Depp and his wife, Helena Bonham-Carter. These trio makes tremendous work together! I still remember the first film I saw was ” Edward Sccissorhands”. It was never a typical boy-meets-girl movie and quite eccentric for some people (I guess – I mean, whaddaya expect seeing Depp being powdered with ernormous amount of make-up and a black lipstick!!).
And of course “Sweeny Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street” ;
And “Corpse’s Bride “ !
And of course, “Beetlejuice” – Haven’t have the chance to watch this though. Argh!!! But I know the characters since I was little kid from the book bought my sister ;
Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz
Michael Keaton as the hilarious wacky and eccentric Beetlejuice!
Geena Davis as Barbara Maitland!
And I dunno if anyone knows that Tim Burton was the director who was first responsible to adapt “Batman” franchise to the silverscreen! The masterpiece, “Batman” in 1989 where- The Gotham City in his hands looks excitingly tempting aka gothic and the characters were so inviting!
The fictonalized Gotham City in the hands of Tim Burton!
Michelle Pfeiffer as the seductive Catwoman!
Michael Keaton as the pioneer Batman !
Danny De Vito as The Evil Penguin!
Besides the dark elements that reallt drawn me, the essence of notoriety and anti-thesis of typical bubbly “awww-that’ss weet” kinda plots are simply a turn on for me.
