It’s a hectic and busy life for Shahrill Ramli. To recap the Charity Dinner Night on 26th July 2010 in which I was acting as the Master of Ceremony (MC) & playing the ‘anklung’ with the ensemble teachers; it was indeed a tiring and topsy-turvy yet enjoyable and memorable. The dinner; which was a joint-venture event between the school staffs and the PIBG was held at Dewan Komuniti Serendah, Hulu Selangor and were honored by few guests from Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Hulu Selangor. The charity dinner was initiated to raise fund for the betterment of school’s infrastructures.
On whole, I had to say that it takes a great deal to become an MC. You have to be spontaneous whenever your authorities wants to change the tentative according to what they feel best and suits the current atmosphere irregardless any fixed schedules being planned. You also is potentially NOT TO JOIN your colleagues or savoring the meals as you always would have to be on guard on the stage to make sure there would be no hiatus in the scene! Honestly, I didn’t really enjoy doing it although it was a golden “debutante” opportunity for me as a greenhorn teacher in the provincial Serendah to bond with the community. Nonetheless, amidst some hiccups caused by the intervention of ‘unwanted authorities’, everything went well and some of the PIBGs members congratulated me for making a great debut as an MC.
Anyway, this weekend was a bit free after two packed weekends. But, the schedule was so congested till the last minutes of Friday evening where I had to co-assisting other teachers in facilitating Indoor & Outdoor Games/ Recreations for Year 6’s Qiyamulail ( Night Spending for Selves-Disclosure). The other teachers were trying to coax me to spend night there but I objected as Next-Couzy/ Godsis Darweena was coming with husband, Syam to listen to the preview of Skor A at Kota Damansara. Right at 7.30 P.M., they arrived at Serendah and off we went to Kota Damansara. It was a nice talk given by the Skor A promoters; listening to the captivating plans and wealth managements advices. A relapsing reminiscences to the corporate world I now left for almost 3 years. After that, we had dinner at Hainan cafe; joined with Dek Qah’s fiance, Edi.
On Saturday, pushed off to Putrajaya. Met up with Kord at The Mines and watched “Salt”. I had to say Angie once again proved herself as the impeccable action and drama stars. She really embodied the character Evelyn Salt and her stunts were amazing and inspiring (she did all her stunts on her own, by the way). With this flick being coined as “Bond meets Bourne”, “Salt” definitely elevates feminism into a new silver screen paradigm with head nodding and standing ovation! Kudos to Angie! I give 3.5 stars outta 5 for “Salt.”
Saturday night; went out with Abg Razak (also at The Mines) watching “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”; a re-make from Disney’s 1940s animation of the same title. What can I say about this flick? TWO THUMBS UP! The suspense, the comic relieves, the CGIs were all brilliantly embroidered into one light and entertaining movie! I give this 4.5 stars outta 5 stars! Nicholas Cage and Alfred Molina both portrayed effortless yet great acting! This is Jerry Bruckheimer’s franchises; NO WONDER. The new starlet cast as the apprentice namely Jay Baruchel really adds the naivety and innocence to the protagonist’s character.
I ended up the movie marathon for the weekend with the last movie on Sunday afternoon at Alamanda, Putrajaya with Kord on the highly-buzzed “Inception” which boasts ensemble of star-studded casts such as Leonardo Di Caprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt , Tom Berenger, and many more! This was actually a heavy movie which demands movie-goers to think with all its concepts and terminologies. Basically, it’s about embedding ideas into the minds of strangers and try to manipulate the minds by penetrating through it layers by layers. A group of ‘dream’ expertises were able to construct a mirrored-to-the-reality world in the dream and convinced the victims that it was a real one. The CGIs were impressive and Christopher Nolan has done great job as the director, I think. In my opinion, Nolan has build his own reputation as dark-type movie makers; the likes of my most favorite; Tim Burton. On whole, I give the movie 4 stars outta 5.
A busy social calendar events diary, Shahrill Ramli.
