Today marks the new year for all Moslems across the world. It is named “Ras as-Sana al-Hijreya” or affectionately known as Maal Hijrah in Malaysia. It is the day commemorating the migration of Prophet Muhammad SAW from Makkah- BaitulHaram (Holy City) to Madinnah (City Of Light). The migration of the Makkah people known as “The Muhajirins” led by Prophet Muhammad SAW were welcomed by the Madinnah people known as “The Ansars”. This event is highly-regarded in Moslem calendar and is dubbed as the epitome of elevated faith and strength; a paradigm shift. Therefore, today marks 1432 years after the inception. It is 1432 Hijrah.
Anyway during this holidays, I’ve got tonnes of plans commencing and still in pipelines. Apart from the ‘mission’ schedules I’ve been working on, I also kill time with leisure activities I most like which are karaoke-ing and also watching movies. Last Sunday, went out with my USM ex-roommate and friend Sharizul Fazli a.k.a. Lie and Ise who happened to be in Putrajaya. So, just hangout with them and just happy to meet them back. They are still lay-back persons and it’s just cool to reconnect back; with all our sleazy jokes and all. It’s so different being with them rather than being with one of my ex-school mate who wasn’t ‘keen’ with all the sleazy jokes anymore. I mean, yeah I guess people change but it feels weird that I instantaneously felt as if I didn’t know my friend anymore. But my USM friends are just cool. Simple people with no pompous-shenanigans.
Eduardo Saverin – A supposedly “betrayed” ex-bestfriend of Mr. Zuckerberg.
Then yesterday, met up with Kat who happened to be in Putrajaya too. Karaoke (again! We just love to sing, don’t you know? Hahaha!) and then caught the movie “The Social Network” starring Jesse Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake & Brenda Song. The movie somehow painted Zuckerberg in a negative portrayal- an emotionless nerd who would do anything to reach the top; and Eduardo Saverin (Zuckerberg’s ex-bestfriend) has been described as the victim of this whole drama happened during the inception of Facebook. Well, movie definitely exaggerates some points just to fuel the dramatization elements but still, you can’t help but feeling angry towards Zuckerberg. But of course, I did my home-research about Zuckerberg in You-Tubes and Wikipedia. Well, the truth remained unscathed but what we sure know, he’s one promising youngest billionaire who is still expanding the horizon of Facebook! On whole, I give this movie 3 stars outta 5!
The Winklevoss twins and Divya Narendra who claimed Zuckerberg stole their idea on starting Facebook from Harvard days.
With the vast usage of Facebook especially in Malaysia, Mark Zuckerberg is still in the process of revamping and expanding the application. Based on the latest interview I You-Tubed; dated 5th December 2010, the 60 Minutes anchor Lesley Stahl grilled Zuckerberg on the spot about his possible “motive” of turning the whole Internet as Facebook; in short, to dominate and conquer the virtual world in his grasp. Could it be? I mean, if he wants to do it, he’s got the power and what we can do is just to wait and see.
