It’s the last day of Ramadhan. Aidilfitri is always nice in a festive way because you get to meet relatives and long-lost friends and keep abreast with the current updates. Nevertheless, Ramadhan has always being the pinnacle of the celebration. The sacred aura (Al-Quran recital, “Tarawih”, etc), the routines – Suhoor & Iftar, the Ramadhan bazaar, the hustle-bustle of Raya preparations, and many more. So far, Alhamdulillah, Allah SWT has blessed me with a satisfactory health to go through this year’s Ramadhan without major glitches; and I am able to perform the fasting wholly; not as last year’s where I experienced a very bad Tonsillitis!
A ladybird I saw at the backyard of Tok’s house!
Anyway, I successfully drove back to Jitra, Kedah from Serendah, Hulu Selangor without any glitches; Alhamdulillah! Since I heard that possibly cars would be thronging the highway and will-be congested; I opted for the old roads from Serendah to Ipoh! It was actually a nice thing to do to pass along the small towns and I felt like I was this ambassador of “Cuti-Cuti Malaysia”! And to travel alone, is another thing to be proud of! I came across this small town named Temoh (which is situated after Kampar) which is an idyllic one. With Banjaran Titiwangsa gracing the background landscape with morning mist, it was an ethereal view, Subhanallah! Only I didn’t manage to capture it through my lense because I was driving; obviously! It took me around 5 hours and a half to reach Jitra, Kedah ; possibly because partially using old roads; and being cautious about the supposed SPEED TRAPS!
Idyllic Kampung Padang in Jitra, Kedah.
I went to visit Tok just now at Kampung Padang, Jitra. Now that she’s alone because Wan passed away this January, I was curious about her. At first, I was reluctant because I heard that the Black-Sheep-Of-The-Family Pak Cik Maie had initially warned Tok to not coming to our house; I am quite furious with Tok who blindfolded with the love to this youngest ungrateful child; but yeah whatever; I just go there to fulfil my filial duty as a grandson- that is to show respect to the elders. Anyway, the place is so tranquil with the after-rain smell and lush greeneries. Paddy-field vista at the backyard certainly adds the “kampung” flavour to the landscape. So, tomorrow maybe we will visit Wan’s grave…..
The true 1 Malaysia spirit. I walk the talk I preach in my class. I hope some of my pupils see this and emulate harmony amongst friends from different ethnics, as well. Tamil & Eng Joo. Miss them.
I’ve been digging my old albums and found a lot of old pictures but my heart fell for one picture I found. It was the picture of myself, Tamilchelvan (my Penang Free School’s bestfriend) and Eng Joo taken at Eng Joo’s place during Chinese New Year in 2000. It was an emblem of 1 Malaysia. I grew up with the spirit of 1 Malaysia; respecting friends from different races and religions. I always emphasize that to my now-pupils in the classes. But it’s sad seeing the Malaysian adults themselves; so drenched with prejudices and hatred due to political and racial sentiments! Please grow up! Learn from the innocent young Malaysians. *sigh* I miss those good old days. “Selamat Hari Kemerdekaan ke- 54″, my friends (,”).
Muammar Gaddafi, the supposed tyrant that ruled Libya.
I also pray that my Moslem brethren in Libya who are suffering with “Battle of Tripoli” (Muammar Gaddafi’s refusal!) due to the Libyan’s political fiasco and also in Palestine – terrorized by the Zionists; are safe and all we can do here is merely praying – doa’. “Selamat Hari raya Aidilfitri” (Eid-Ul-Fitri) to all Moslem brothers and sisters in the world.
Oh yeah, one more thing! I browsed my favourite Hollywood site just now at http://justjared.buzznet.com and I found out that Beyonce is a preggers now! Wooo… looks like she had to cancel her new acting flick under the wings of Clint Eastwood “A Star Is Born” due to the pregnancy. Her latest album “4” is out now. The first single “Run The World” was not really something pleasant; I have to say it sounds very messy; but I like the second single “Best Thing You Never Had” – it has the ‘Irreplaceable’ aura and very catchy/vindictive chorus! Listen to it, y;all!
Alhamdulillah for everything; for being able to complete the full haul of Ramadhan this year and for all the blesses and blisses. Have a blessed Aidilfitri 2011 y’all – from Shahrill Ramli to you. (<“)
