Taking a break from my dark reading; on the 3rd December 2011, one my closest cousins, Kak Alia was having an engagement ceremony in her place in Lahar Kepar, Kepala Batas, Penang. We had so much fun memories together since we were young; with Kakak and I; and remembering childhood days are like sugar-candies to the mind. Saccharine, gone – but you could still remember the sweetness, no?
The soon-to-be-mother-in-law donned the ring.
The fiance and the fiancee. Hahaha. Mak Ngah seemed red-eyed, though.
It was a familial affair with the relatives all thronged there to welcome her soon-to-be-husband-but-now-fiance. I like the atmosphere where I got to meet and have our family assembly – together with Pak Long & Mak Long (and his grandchildren); Pak Su & Mak Su; And Cik Semah; and Pak Ngah’s side of families (Pak Ngah was Ayah and Mak Ngah’s cousin; so the families are like intertwining). Simple but merry.
Kak Lia & I.
Kak Aida looking serene. (,”)
Two small tents were built in front of the house and approximately around 1 P.M., the fiance’s entourage came along. It was a good experience for me to witness this Malay custom as when Kakak got betrothed, I didn’t get the chance to really see it (or have I? But I must have forgotten that!). On whole, the traditional and piety parts of the engagement went well; Alhamdulillah.
Abang Nuar did the talking as representative of the fiancee.
I am just happy for Kak Lia as she is set to begin her baby-crawling to another phase of life. And it’s heart-whelming to know that Mak Ngah and everyone can take a deep breath of relieve. You know, it’s the Malay life; customary and family is all gel together. Congratulations to my cousin, Kak Lia! (,”)
The prawns. I love foods these days. That’s why I’ve grown cherubic fat, no? (,”)
4 Musketeers? Hahahaha – Mak Long, Mak, Cik Semah & Mak Su (hidden; only the head is visible) were savouring food and consumed in their topics! Hahahaa!
Mak Long who was REALLY savouring the food (Hehehe) while Pak Su was trying adjusting his telephone to capture video. Hahahaa!
Pak Su & Ayah. At first glance, they seemed alike, aite? (,”)
