Professional wise, this week has been great experiences. This year is my second year in invigilating UPSR. Although initially I dread the responsibility but of course it came with good lesson. It is a good exposure in learning new things and making new friends and acquaintances although I have to say it was a little bit awkward to break the ices. Nevertheless as teacher especially a greenhorn, you should master the art of interpersonal skill (well, since my designation in Affin Islamic last time was an Assistant Relationship Manager; surely I must master this, mustn’t I?) and flatter the elders. Not to kiss asses; but to tap their vast knowledge.
5 Brilliant 2012.
This year, it is full with eventful fiascos and commotions. But of course I am not entitled to jot it down. It’s all decreed in the secrecy of AkuJanji. Still, methinks it’s all the power of media. Never underestimate that; and shouldn’t let it become too much empowered, as well. Whatever it is, I am glad The Exam is over (and I am growing few pimples!!! MUST BE because of the pressure and stress! I grow zits when I am in tense situations!).
Chicken Rice. My treat to the kids in 5 Brilliant 2012. (,”)
My legs were aching especially on the last day where exams spun from 8.15 a.m. till 4.00 p.m. And then the next day, school resumes as usual with “Jamuan Aidilfitri & Penutup Bulan Kemerdekaan.” I can hardly rest because my class 5 Brilliant was the winner for Choir Performance so I had to gather them and make them practice once or twice and got them ready to perform. After that, I had to manage the class for “Aidilfitri” get-together in the class. Since my class was used as the one of the venues of UPSR, I had to re-arrange the class first despite the aching legs!
Utba, the birthday boy cutting his cakes. I didn’t have the chance to taste it because I was busy distributing Chicken Rice. Well, as long as the kids were enjoying themselves.
And then, I ‘ve ordered “Nasi Ayam” (chicken rice) from Alif’s mother on courtesy of Kak Lin. I decided to give treat to my 5 Brilliant pupils; after all, they threw a surprise birthday party for me at the end of May, didn’t they? Kind gestures always have niches in my heart. Prepared everything on the tables and the kids put their ensembles of cookies and other food on the table. I bought 2 bottles of orange cordials but they weren’t enough so I had to dash outside the school to buy another two bottles (which also were not enough).
With Kak Jun, Ustazah Zainab (Kak Nab) & Kak Fidah.
With Kak Sakinah, Kak Adda, Ustaz Redwan, Ustaz Kamaruzzaman, Cikgu Rosmainy & Ustaz Shuib.
With the boys Luqman, Ammar, Ali, Danial, Zakwan & Aiman. Taught them English in 4 creative in 2010…now they are already about to leave school, taken UPSR in 2012. Time flies….
So happened that it was also Utba and Aishah’s birthdays. Utba’s mother sent 2 cakes for him so we celebrated and sang birthday for him. Utba is the son of Malaysian renowned inventor Zulkifli Haron and it’s still surreal to me that I am teaching his son because I still remember that I used to read an article in a book “Tahukah Anda?” about Mister Zulkifli Haron inventing a ‘haunted car’ ala Knight Rider. The son is active and very helpful and full of energy but of course I never tell him that I used to read about his father! Hahaha! I’ve posted the excerpt of article in Facebook but I restricted from my pupils to see. Perhaps later, I’ll publish that in my 5 Brilliant’s FB page.
From my book “Tahukah Anda?” on Malaysian famous inventor Zulkifli Haron that I bought when I was like Year 3 in 1993. Can’t believe I am teaching his son, Utba now! Hahaha. Awe and impressed with his creativity and innovative.
It was a joyous affair. The whole school was enjoying “open classes” and visiting each classes. We were so full and it was a nice “let-hair-down” moment. I love my career, my colleagues and my pupils. Alhamdulillah for the opportunity. I never regret of leaving job as a banker and becoming a teacher. This is where I belong. This is my niche. This is my forte.

Still lethargic and exhausted, around 3.30 p.m.,pushed off to KL for my social rendezvous. KL was congested so I thought of using a de-tour to Seri Kembangan/Sungai Besi/Serdang via NPE Highway by Damansara Heights! I picked the wrong time! Office hours close and vehicles were congesting the roads! OH MY GOD! It took me 3 hours and more to arrive at destination.
Milla Jovovich killed all the bio-hazards.
Karaoke-ed and managed to catch “Resident Evil 5 : Retribution” which was a completely turkey. The storyline was somehow ridiculous and isn’t appealing. Milla Jovovich looked yummy as ever but still it couldn’t save the film. Bad one.
On Saturday, went out with Kod who so happened was around in town. Karaoke (this time 2 hours!) at Alamanda (been ages) and just killing time lurking around and sharing what’s-hots-and-nots. I think he has a lot of experiences in education although we are from the same batch of 2010. As a teacher of small school, he has to hold a lot of posts and responsibilities, therefore the exposures are immensely vast. I honestly felt dwarved by his knowledge on education systems especially the management hierarchical bureaucracies.
On whole, it has been a hectic week. I also would like to take opportunity to wish a Happy Malaysia Day to all Malaysians who love Malaysia on this beautiful 16th September. Amin!
