USM was the university where I obtained my tertiary education. I did Biological Science with specialization in Microbiology on the second and third years. Throughout the years in USM, I’ve learned about life and friends. It is always nice to be back in an event with familiar USM faces and I have to say that there’s a sense of brethren-hood when you identify people under the USM batches. I don’t know, it just comes naturally.
The wedding invitation she did herself.
So today, went to Nawal’s wedding reception at Ar-Rahman Mosque in Kampung Tunku. This would be her Malaysian reception as she already got married in USA to her American husband, Valentino Chavez (so said the wedding card). I picked Kitty Kat (Hahhaha, Kathleen Nandong) at her place in Jalan Ipoh from Serendah and then off we went to Kampung Tunku at Petaling Jaya.
Kitty Kat and I. (,”)
Kampung Tunku and the school SK Kampung Tunku are quite household names. Every now and then I would keep hearing the names but I never ventured there. So I guess with this opportunity it was great to explore new place. So happened that it was just around the corner, circa Midvalley and Templer Road. As expected, the housing estate comprises big houses – the name “Kampung” is just a name; perhaps due to being an old settlement? But for sure, Kat and I agreed that this ain’t a “kampung” at all! Hahahah!
On whole, the event was a low key and simple but with heart-warming ambiance. Nawal purposely opted for simplicity and I was so awe when she told us that she spent merely around RM5,000 for the whole event -RM3,000 for the food and another RM2,000 for the miscellaneous! And you know what; the wedding dress, the invitation cards, the stage ala dais-kinda-platform decorations were all Do-It-Yourself mode – she and her friends!
Fusion of Malay and Western. “Nasi Kerabu” and a bun-with-creamy-icing.
Seriously, she is one of the most creative persons and very cool. She had this Wish Lists and ensemble all things that she wants to do in her lifetime and tries to make it happens when opportunities strike! Who would have done that? Perhaps there are people but rarely. In a way, she aspires me to do that as well. I like that idea of trying to achieve what you want to do in your life – as you know, you live once; so make use of the opportunity, no?
Nawal and her husband, Valentino. Kat told us that the husband is a wrestler some-sort. Really? No wonder he is so big! (,”)
Anyway, it’s so good to meet Kitty Kat after ages and got to meet USM friends and new acquaintances. Yeah, we all been busy with our lives. Updating what’s-hot-and-nots. By the way, congratulations, Nawal!
