Happy Chinese New Year 2014! It’s the Year of Horse. What an eventful day today. I pushed off from Serendah to go back to Jitra but circa Sungkai, my tyres were a “bit loose”. With the latest service period already exhausted as I barely had time to accommodate the service with endless meetings in school to attend as Ketua Panitia Sains (some are even trivial meetings!), I wasn’t confident about my car. It is not really ready for long journey. In the end, I thought it’s better for me to revert back to Serendah rather than weather the long 6 hours journey UpNorth fueled with uncertainties!
Happy Chinese New Year 2014. The Year of The Horse.
So, tonight as I am getting in touch with my Chinese side and immersing myself with the Chinese songs, memories lingered. Being a Penangite, growing up in predominantly Chinese community, integration with the culture can’t be hindered; and that goes to the people, as well.
Somehow, it is not a fabricated tale. It happens, and it happened. And I experienced that.
I am not going to write this in detail as who knows people from my past read this?! Hahaha! But, will you ever forget a person who ignited the meaning of love and showed you a whole new world? I guess love transcends races and skin-colours. Yes, we grow up from that. We departed and carve our own ways. We even drifted in our present world that sometimes we forgot our first. Time can’t be rewind; but the nostalgia brings back the heartbeats.
Shahrill Ramli, January 2014. A taste of 30 years old.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not into rekindling things back. I am happy and grateful with the present life and the person I am with now. But being honest, nostalgia can’t be erased. They linger around with distinct photographic episodes playing in the mind; especially when music evokes the emotion.
Especially when I encountered this piece of duet between our own Shila Amzah with the British-born Chinese Idol contestant named James; singing the song “HaoJiuBuJian” means (‘Long Time No See’) which originally sung by Eason Chan. This is the lyrics and the translation I got from the Internet. It speaks what I feel inside. We grow up, but memories linger on :-
I’ve come to some city
Walked over roads you’ve walked over
Thought about how lonely the days without me might’ve been for you
*Holding the picture you gave me
That familiar street
Just, without image of you (in it)
We can’t go back to that day
Will you suddenly appear?
At that cafe at the corner
I will smile, wave and call for you
Sit with you and have a conversation
Oh, how I wish to meet with you
See how you’ve changed recently
(We) won’t speak about the past anymore
I’ll say one phrase to you
Just one phrase
“Long time no see”*
Yes, it has been ages. Long time no see. HaoJiuBu Jian…..
