Inalillah. It is a shocking news to know that Malaysian Songbird, Datuk Sharifah Aini had passed away this morning at Pusat Perubatan Pakar Damansara, circa 1.26 a.m. at the age of 61 years old. It was reported that the cause of death was due to lungs infection.
Although I wasn’t an ardent fan of her but I was captivated by her versatility beautiful voice as years ago, I did my own research hearing her old songs and I was so shocked to hear her flawless diction in English pronunciation as well beautiful ‘makhraj’ when she sang Arabic Nasheed. One of her English cover-version of Julio Iglesias’s “Forever & Ever” even made it as my blog’s theme song back in 2010 (REFER to : https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2010/09/18/my-cloud-9-destiny-symphony-sharifah-ainis-forever-ever/. In 2000 when I was in Form 4, I even bought her “Seribu Mawar” cassette because I liked her Arabic songs “Nour-el Ain” and also “Ishar” (you can’t find this legendary cover version of her in the Net as I have tried. It was the song of legendary Egyptian’s singer, Fairouz).
“Seribu Mawar” released in 2000. I bought the cassette!
Besides that although I could be considered as Siti Nurhaliza’s camp (years ago I was her hardcore fan, now so-so) but to know that Siti Nurhaliza and Sharifah Aini called it a truce and resolved their animosities on controversial so-called “poison letter” (you guys can Google) in the month of Ramadhan in 2010 I think (not sure) had inspired myself to make effort to reach out a friend, Muzem of whom I had misunderstanding for about more than a year in 2010. I felt like if these two people could forget the hatred and animosities, why not I? After all, we are Moslems.
Sharifah Aini had a colourful life journey, I am sure we all can Google about it. But she was so proud with her only son’s inclination towards the path of piety. It is amazing gift, Subhanallah. May ALLAH SWT bless her soul.
With her only son, Aliff.
The lyrics of cover version of Julio Iglesias’s “Forever & Ever” which really captivated me in 2010!
One of her last messages – “Each one of us does not know when is our time to be called back to Our Creator. If God destines, it is time for me to die, if this test God gives ending up with me being a lifeless body, with a peaceful heart, I will be tranquil and open heart to accept whatever destined.”
Everyone goes back to ALLAH SWT.
Heart wrenching. Sharifah Aini’s only son, Aliff led the Jemaah in Prayer of The Dead. It is so touching to see the irony of their both worlds. It was quoted that Prophet Muhammad SAW once said – “When someone died, nothing could help him/her except 3 things – First, Sadaqah or Wakaf (charity); Second, good knowledge imparted to others for benefits; Thirdly, the prayer/Doa of his pious child.”
The son manned the burial. A beautiful treasure left by the National Nightingale. Even their worlds are ironically distance apart, but the love and the bond never severed. Subhanallah. God is Great.
