Royalties and Rakyat are like salmons in the river; each one need the other to function as furthermore, it is stipulated in the Malaysian and specifically Malay customs that to respect King and Sultan is an essence. Nevertheless, the Plain Rakyat are becoming more antagonistic towards Royalties who exhibit lavish lifestyles and socialites partying and to ignore their principal roles, which are to serve the Plain Rakyat & demonstrate good ethics as leader of Race & Religion. Of course I am not going to pinpoint any names as it could be used against me as “defamation” (you know how things work in Malaysia, right?) but I guess Plain Rakyat knows any open secrets in the bags.
His official portrait.
But, it is true; there’s always a diamond in the rough. There is one unique Malay Royalty that really captures my heart and I believe possibly the whole Malaysians who are intelligent to decipher. Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan or his real name Tuanku Muhammad Faris Petra is that diamond in the rough. I am not going to write his biodata here as I am sure you guys can find it countless in the Internet. I am just going to jot down what I feel about this Royalty.
Mingling with the other Royalties in formal function.
Mingling with Plain Rakyat. Amazing!!!
Despite that his ascension to the throne was rather a dramatic family affair, Sultan Muhammad V proves to be the Sultan of The People’s Hearts. His down-to-earth approach, his willingness to mingle with Plain Rakyat, his respects to the elders especially Nik Aziz, his simplicity in attire and conversation; all these make the Rakyat so close to him and adore him. On a contrary with other Royalties who are usually associated with ‘elitism’ and ‘lavish luxury lifestyles’ by the Plain Rakyat who undeniably loathe that (sorry, I am just stating the fact. This can’t be considered against me, isn’t it? If it is, it will be SHOCKING!); Sultan Muhammad V is always seen to be very keen to his people’s plain affairs and couldn’t care less about all the socialites parties!!! Love him for that!
About to slaughter a cow for Qurban. A very rare sight for a Sultan to do this!
Very friendly and respect the elder.
On whole, I am sure that all Malaysians are so excited if Sultan Muhammad V is to be selected as the Yang Dipertuan Agong. I am always someone who is attracted towards simplicity and simple people; AND I believe he is a good icon, a fresh breath for the new generation to emulate; as a leader and as a Moslem. I wish I could meet him one day, Amin! Haha (,”)
He with his white robe and the white skullcap. Such a pleasant sight.
