MERDEKA!!!! Malaysia is already 57 years old; as in tonight. Now, as I am jotting down this, it is 12.56 p.m. I am now at a “homestay” terrace house (rather a big one!) at Taman Bertam Setia in Cheng, Melaka. I am here with Kakak & family (will update on that in a later entry) and the idea of celebrating The Independence Day at Melaka, the historical state in Malaysia is somewhat exciting; especially for a history freak like me!
My second attempt of using Picasa. Still a noob. Hahaha! So BIG!
As a Malaysian, what I want to see and aspire is that my country will preserve the prosperity despite the fiasco faced by Malaysia this year and the subtle attacks by the forces outside. It is too obvious that even in the inside, there are traitors who are willing to trade the prosperity of the nation simply to achieve their personal goals. It is a sad scenario but fortunately there are still a lot of Malaysians who are open-minded and shun acts to ruin the prosperity albeit each and everyone of us come from different races, religions, backgrounds and even political preferences. The most apparent example is during the MH370 & MH17 fiasco. Although some Western medias (including the Down Under’s Aussie) trying to spin off the fact and painting bad image to Malaysian Airlines, Malaysians stay together to support each other and Malaysia as a country; sending words of encouragements via social medias, etc.
The picture that was manipulated by the irresponsible Aussie news portal. Miss Ping retaliated via Twitter as a true Malaysian to defend the dignity of our nation!
For instance the case of an Aussie newspaper trying to paint bad image when Malaysian-born Masterchef UK 2014 winner, Catherine Chin Wan Ping Coombes took a picture in the airline with empty seats, which was BEFORE other passengers boarded the plane. Nevertheless, an irresponsible Aussie news portal spun& twisted the story into an image of that MAS is experiencing great loss with empty seats! As a Malaysian, Catherine Chin was so frustrated and angry with the irresponsible and unethical report of the Aussie news portal!!! Clearly, Malaysians are so patriotic despite that some are dispersed around the world; AND such a shame for ‘caucasian reporters’ who mostly think they are ‘more civilized’ with their endless White Men’s Burden! Sheesh, no brainer!!
This year’s theme slogan. “This Is Where A Love Was Born”.
On whole, my aspiration is that Malaysia will continue to be strong and sturdy to face the challenges waiting ahead. Amin!
