I have always love Melaka. Probably due to the idea that Melaka was also a Straits State like my birthplace Penang; along with Singapore (if you have no idea, look back at your history text book! Hahah!) and the historical & Colonialism ambiances are very eminent in these 3 places. I have been to Melaka quite many times (REFER to Melaka entry at https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/under-the-scorching-sun-of-port-dickson-bandar-di-hilir-malacca-the-army-museum-seafood-sari-rhasa-independence-declaration-museum-portugueses-a-famosa-st-paul-chapel-st-fra/ & Portuguese Settlement entry at https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2012/12/26/the-colours-of-malaysian-creoles-hollywoods-cinemas-portuguese-settlement-princess-hang-li-pos-well-melaka-premieres-of-jack-reacher-life-of-pi/ ) but this time around, Kakak suggested for a short family vacation on the Merdeka holidays and to have a get-together before they fly to Leeds, United Kingdoms as Kakak wants to further her Masters’ Degree there; scheduled to fly within this September! Although initially I planned to do my own personal activity but I thought it was a great family bonding time; so, I just agreed with the idea.
Our “homestay” at Taman Bertam Setia in Cheng, Melaka. Damn, I am so jealous with the house and the pricing!!! If only I live in Melaka! The owner is an easy-going Tuan Haji Zakaria. Fully recommended with pricing of RM600 for approximately 3 days. It should be able to accommodate two families with spacious rooms and living room!
At first, I was feeling a bit sick as my Tonsils were already enlarging (I have Tonsilitis!) and to add salt to the wound, I consumed the Black Seed Oil or “Habatus Sauda’ ” prior to any breakfast! Damn, it caused me feeling nauseous! But in the end, I succeeded, braving myself to drive all the way to Putrajaya. We pushed off on Saturday and the traffic was so CONGESTED especially at Seremban area!!!! So, we resorted to take the old road but still it was really congested! Luckily with all the food we bought at PETRONAS Lavender Height, the journey was rather an OK one as you know people say “hungry people make cranky people”!!
Rifqi Naufal, my first nephew & I at Klebang, Melaka. Sometimes, I pitied him for his position as an older brother to a baby brother born 7 years younger than him. We knew that he tried to take our attentions but sometimes his antics are driving us all mad! I feel sorry for him sometimes but it is what it now. He must learn to adapt to the new role. I pray he will always be alright.
We arrived at Taman Bertam Setia, in the area called Cheng circa 4.00 p.m. which happened to be a “homestay” residence. The owner was Tuan Haji Zakaria and apparently he also owned the 2 houses lot next to our “homestay” residence! The house was quite big and I personally full of envy when he told that the house wasn’t even in the range on RM200,000 when he bought it 2 years ago! Damn! How lucky are the people who live in Melaka! It was quite a comfortable double storey with 4 rooms! Anyway, we slept and rested before exploring Melaka at night.
Meals at “Hajah Rahimah Kari Ikan Bakar” Restaurant at Bukit Katil, Melaka.
At night, we decided to find a place for food. Naturally, the famous Umbai crossed our minds (REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2011/09/11/aidilfitri-2011-part-vi-upsr-invigilating-wishing-devouring-seafood-umbai-melaka-10-years-post-tragic-september-11th-911/) but then Kakak & Abang Zam thought it was quite far so we just roamed around Klebang Beach. So happened that we saw a food arcade and stalls beside the road; so we just went there. I loved the satays and the “Otak-Otak” served there; the “asam pedas” according to Kakak however, ain’t on par with the expected standard. However the “cendol” (Hahhaa, I took Rifqi’s!) was awesome as well. Despite my Tonsils were enlarging, it was such a waste not to savour it!
The luncheon at “Hajah Rahimah Kari Kepala Ikan” costed us RM92. Well, as a curry aficionado and a Penangite, I have to say that the curry is just OK, not that vavavoom BUT the price is!! LMAO!
The next day, we began the day by having lunch at the famous “Hajah Rahimah Kari Kepala Ikan” Restaurant at Bukit Katil, Melaka. Well, as a Penangite where curry is inevitably a staple dish, I have to say it was just OK; I mean for me, it wasn’t Vavavoom but it was alright. Nevertheless, the PRICE WAS VAVAVOOM!!!! It was all for RM92 for 3 adults & 2 kids! Well, not that we were shocked because Kakak already read in blogs about the expensive price and we took deep fried squids (which we know are quit pricey these days!), a jug of sugar cane juice and many more BUT of course to have luncheon with that kind of price; we were just quite agog for a while; but then, it worth a try.
The two nephews getting ready to get soaking wet!
We then headed to Melaka Wonderland as Rifqi was badly wanting to play with the water! It has been a long time since I last getting immersed with water in public so it was kinda nice getaway and even little Raess enjoying himself! Rifqi was getting a bit acrried away by splashing everyone with water and shooting us with the water-gun and annoyed everyone. So, when he was unaware, I took a hold of him and Kakak shot the water gun to his face!!! Hahahaha! We then experimented with the water tunnelled-ladder. Initially, Kakak & I went down and it was really dark that we got the claustrauphobic mood. Kakak was getting scared that she yelled for my name (but I was already slipping down so I can’t crawl up!) and she crawled up! It was indeed quite dark and the ladder wasn’t that smooth and slipper so I had to moved the ass. When I succeeded down there, Kakak got inspired and went through down the ladder herself. Hhahahaa! Good for her! Such a motivated woman. She said she had to conquered her fear when she saw me down there (or Kiasu? Hahaha! We, Penangites are Kiasus!) and thought that if she could do the skydiving in New Zealand, why not this one? Hahahaha! I like that spirit and wish to emulate that as well! When we got home, it was already dark & both of my nephews were dozing off sleepily so we scrapped the seafood plan.
This is me trying to channel my Swimsuit Illustrated feeling. Hahahaha! While Raess was so excited with the water experience!
Rifqi was getting so overexcited that Kakak & I ganged-up and shot back the water gun squirt back at him! Hahaha!
So today, we went to Klebang beach to savour the famous Coconut Shake (delicious! I want to come back!) and the relaxing sea breeze. It made me think that Malaysia is such a beautiful country. We then had lunch at a restaurant in Banda Hilir as we had no alternative and the town was congested with vehicles!!! Imagine, we were stuck in the traffic for nearly an hour JUST TO REACH THE Ayer Keroh toll plaza!! When we arrived at Pedas-Linggi Highway, it was apparent that PLUS Highway was really congested! So, we decided to use the old road and detoured to LEKAS Highway, a shortcut from Negeri Sembilan to Putrajaya! All the way, there were many cars BUT not congested.
Such a breezy feeling at Dataran 1 Malaysia in Klebang Beach, Melaka and savouring the delicious Coconut Shake! Yummy!
On whole, it was a nice family-bonding short vacation for us before Kakak and her family fly to United Kingdom!!! Huhuhu.. kinda sad but at least I can bunk at their place later on! Hahaha! Positivity!
