Alhamdulillah! SK Serendah had successfully held its first Entrepreneurship Carnival since 8 years and obviously it was my first as well as I only start to serve the school in 2010. It was an ambitious mission as usually, the school organized the Annual Charity Dinner & to held Entrepreneurship Carnival meant that teachers had to be drenched with sweat (very tiring!!!) and with UPSR around the corner, it was pretty topsy turvy to handle the academic stuffs as well as the preparation for the Carnival. Nevertheless, Headmaster was adamant on us doing that; so we proceeded.
Hajah Norleza & I. Thanks so much for helping. (,”)
So on 27th September 2014, we hit the road. And as usual, I was entrusted as the Emcee for the day. But imagine doing it ALONE! And what’s more, I had to cover for Cikgu Khaliesa’s duty in the ‘Permintaan Lagu’ (Songs Request) because she attended Master’s Degree classes AND the substitute for her who is Cikgu Fauzi Ameen was Missing-In-Action (M.I.A.) and later I realized the SMS that he had an emergency case heading to the hospital!
Kak Norsiah & Kak Airin handling their sandwiches.
Water Ball. I envy the kids! Hahaha!
The crowd thronging! Wow, I didn’t expect that many! You know, when you are the Emcee and you got stuck in the tent with your responsibility to talk and to talk and to talk; you didn’t have time to explore!
Luckily that Puan Hajah Norleza who is also our PIBG (Parents & Teachers Association) Committee member was hanging out at the tent and she helped to cover for me in the announcement and emceeing bits! Thanks so much Hajah!! Really appreciate it. I nearly fainted as the weather was becoming hot than ever AND crowd especially the teenagers were all starting to gather in the tent to see and to tease those who screeched their lungs out in the Karaoke section! Lack of oxygen!! There were also a few people who had their beloved people gone missing; so I had to make announcement, especially kids who have little brothers/sisters tagging along them. AND, I couldn’t help but to feel both funny and a bit “Grrrrrr!” moment (Hahahaa!) when a kid came to me frantically while I was so busy emceeing. I asked why; and he said :-
“Sir, kasut saya dah koyak”! (Sir, my shoes are worn off already!)
I was a bit agog by that and said :-
“Laaaa…ini pun awak nak bagitahu Sir ke?? Macam mana Sir nak tolong?” (You wanna tell me this? What can I do??)
Whoa!!! Nice angle! – All pictures courtesy of Ustaz Harris’s Facebook page.
The Inflatable Games. Kids love this!
You can also do health-checking here.
Hahahhaa, the kids helping the drink/beverages section. Thanks boys!
They are all up for Paint ball!
Hahhahahaha! It sounded funny but when it happened I was really busy so quite pissed off. And pupils kept coming to ask me about the Karaoke and Songs Request whereas I have mentioned to them COUNTLESS time that they had to line-up to and gave names to another 2 girls-in-charge (we rent the Karaoke system from them!) and NOT FROM ME!! Hhahaa, making me dizzy y’all!
Ice-Cream parlour? Teachers were busy entertaining the kids!
AND I haven’t been eating anything; so I asked a pupil to buy me “Keropok Lekor” and a drink (that was already around 11.30 a.m.!) and then dashed outside from the tent (I let Hajah took over the emceeing part!) to savour Laksa.
Rolling the big ball??? Seemed so futuristic!!
Of course, my job also comprises of gaining people’s attention to the stage when Lucky Draws lot were about to be done. There were all 5 rounds of Lucky Draws and I had to make it sound so dramatic yet casual on the stage. In a nutshell, I talked non-stop from 8 am until 2 pm!!!
Snapped by Kakak. Thanks! Hahhaha Hajah Norleza grinning! So you could imagine why I was nearly fainted. Oxygen, please!!!!!!!!!!
On whole, it was indeed a success. We had so many events except for pony ride (as the person in charge’s mother passed away) and Rabbits Farm as the rabbits were sick on that every day. Nevertheless apart from that, we had :-
- Ghost House (“Rumah Hantu”) – which was a super success as pupils were queuing up to enter it until the computer lab!!;
- Water Ball;
- The Inflatable Games;
- Paint Ball;
- Tricycle Rides;
- Exhibitions by Policemen, Firefighters and AADK; (demonstration on how to extinguish fire, etc);
- Assorted carnival food
Congratulations to everyone especially Ustaz Harris as the PIBG Secretary for this year; so he had to man up the event. I guess everyone worked so hard despite lack of teachers as a lot of them have Degree & Master Degree’s classes during weekend. And also thanks to Kakak, Abang Zam, Rifqi & Raess for visiting my school’s carnival. So sad as this will be their last week before Kakak flies to Leeds, United Kingdom this coming Thursday for her one-year Master’s Degree programme!! Congratulations, SK Serendah 2014!!!
Kakak & I. Feels sad that she is going to Leeds, United Kingdom for a year to further study. Well, on a brighter side, I could end up there. Who knows? Haha! (,”)
