As part of the Advanced Public Relation subject that I am taking this semester, we are asked to do a campaign and obviously, aligned with its public relation nature, to inseminate the campaign to the public. My lecturer, Dr. Ain had asked all of us to come out with an online campaign as that is the “in” platforms to be used these days; and try to get as much LIKES or COMMENTS as possible – to indicate the insemination of the information!
For this one, I have teamed up with Kak Ti, Didi, Sha and Baz. They decided to do topics on English literacy! Hahhaa! Well honestly, the topic didn’t really entice me as I’ve been dealing with the fiasco for 5 years now (I am a teacher, aite?) but since they insisted; I just followed suit.
While I was driving, I suddenly had an enlightenment to name the project as “The Kaya Bread Project”. Why Kaya? Well, Kaya is a food spread, particularly used on bread (much like Vegemite for Aussie!); made from coconut, eggs and sugar. It is very popular among Malaysian and it can be tagged as our Malaysian homegrown flavour! On the other hand, bread is of course, is synonymous to be affiliated with English dietary. So, I thought by putting “Kaya Bread” as the title, it would reflect our theme of project – which is although we emphasize the awareness to master English BUT it doesn’t mean, our pride and nationalistic spirit as Malaysian will deter!
The first vocabulary launched! Hehhee. We just launched the page today!
Well, at least we have launched this campaign, no??? And Didi will try to create Instagram for our project. Phew! And tomorrow, I am having “Statistics” midterm! Amin!!!!!! So many things to do with so little time! BUT, I guess I can look forward for this end of year!!! Yeehaaaaaaaaaaaa! I am riding a Thestral! (,”)
The second vocabulary! More to come! (,”)
So, for those who are reading my blog; do visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/thekayabreadproject; or you guys can hashtag #thekayabreadproject (hashtag is a popular mode these days! Hahah!) Yes, we speak English but in our heart, we are still very much Malaysian!!! (,”)
