I have been thinking a lot. About the title or the topic I want to tap on if I were to be eligible to do a mini research for my Master’s Degree (which I have to score at least B+ for the accumulation of “Communication Research Methods” & “Statistics for Communication Research”; so far my first leg already secure the place as I managed to score A- for “Communication Research Methods”; REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2014/06/21/1st-semester-finl-result-2-as-1-a-pngk-3-917/).
I have talked to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muati that I would really love to be supervised by him (whoa? Hahaha!) and he casually agreed on that. So that was like me “booking” him as there are quite several people lining up to be supervised by him! Well, Dr. Muati happened to be the lecturer for my “Communication Research Methods” & I remembered that he asked us to do our proposal as good as possible so that it could be served as a fundamental platform for our mini research; in that case, will save us a lot of time!
Interesting, uncharted waters.

I picked the topic on the power of tagline and specifically, the one coined by Beauty Umairah’s founder, Kak Ton with the tantalizing tagline – “Comey Tak Kak Ton?”. The proposal “The Relationship Between Tagline Usage & Beauty Umaira’s Marketability” managed to get 34/40 which I was quite happy as a greenhorn first semester student; especially when the grading coming the from The Dean of Faculty and a Rhetoric Expertise like Dr. Muati (Hahhaa, obsession? I think we all do! He is a lovable and admirable lecturer. Everyone wants to be in his classes. Perhaps because he is good with wits and puns as he is the Master in Persuasion!).

Initially, YES; I want to use that but then I have found Islamic Communication as an uncharted water & I also have an equally passion with anything that is affiliated with Islamic elements; as my Minor back in USM was Islamic Studies! While I was driving (I always have visions or enlightenment while driving; especially en route from Serendah to Batang Kali! LOL!); I had this idea of tapping into the controversial topics on how Islamic Communication plays influential role in building up the image of a company; especially when one deals with the notorious Halal fiasco of recent years; as well as the Middle East Domino Effect! BINGO! I already forwarded the interest to Dr. Muati and he said he is opened to it; as long as I can correlate that into Corporate Communication; means that how Islamic Communication can be affiliated with the corporate entity.
Boycotting MacDonald’s & Starbucks in Malaysia due to the anti-Zionist sentiments. Should be interesting to fathom, no?
I have yet to fathom the gaps or to formulate the Research Questions but I guess that is where my heart is. Yes, I love marketing communicating as well (tagline usage Vs product marketability) BUT, I have the hunch that if I could pull this off, it could be a great proposal. Well, whatever it is; I have to start concocting the plan NOW so that if I were to be eligible to do mini research in 3rd Semester, I can catapult myself from the already-prepared spring board!
I guess eventhough some people thought I am so “secularist” (well, don’t be shocked! A narrow-minded and antiquated loud-talking teacher in my school said that to my face; well, I also slammed her back to her face! Hahaha!); my heart is very much affiliated to my piety & my decree. That is my faith.
