I am tired as I am doing ALL THESE within THIS ONE WEEK; so many things to be done within so little time; – juggling between school workloads this week :-
- KSSR English Language evaluation to be delivered;
- English Language Year 5 evaluation paper;
- Updating & closing the monthly numeration of the Attendance Book for my class 5 Pelangi as I am the class teacher (calculating the average percentages of absence, etc);
- Taking care of the 600++ pupils at the fields for Additional Sports as well as co-helping my House Leader under the scorching hot sun;
- Updating the tedious data for my 5 Pelangi pupils at the Aplikasi Pengkalan Data Murid (APDM) as apparently, a pupil of mine is suspected to be an “OKU”;
- Gathering the teeth cards for my 5 Pelangi from each of their piling-up files; write the list name and wrapped them for the Dental-in-charge Teacher
I was a Microbiology Degree holder. A banker. And now a teacher. No matter where I plan to go, whether to leave the teaching post or to penetrate another level of institutional learning, the heart of a teacher never withers in me. Being a teacher teaches me everything about compassion.
– and, the assignments for my Master’s Degree :-
- Interviewing key person at Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMUC) for Assignment 3 – “Comparative Study Between KLMUC & IUKL”, for the subject “Theory & Practices of Corporate Communication” (KOM 5317) on Monday, 27th April 2015 ;
- Working my ass off for the submission of Assignment 2 – “Corporate Communication Practices in Sports Tourism in Malaysia – Muay Thai” (REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2015/04/28/the-powerful-liaisons-of-facebook-the-world-of-sports-tourism-kom-5317-boxxtomoi-the-blood-sweat-of-malaysian-muay-thai-championships-organizer/) for the subject “Theory & Practices of Corporate Communication” on Wednesday 29th April 2015;
- Do presentation with my partner, Azlia Ibrahim a.k.a. Ajie on Assignment 3 – “Comparative Study Between KLMUC & IUKL”, for the subject “Theory & Practices of Corporate Communication”on Wednesday, 29th April 2015;
- Going to Loreal Malaysia Sdn Bhd tomorrow at Uptown Damansara for the subject “Organizational Communication” on Thursday, 30th April 2015.
Part time student???? Really stressful!
And not to mention that my health is deteriorating to the scorching hot weather; hence causing the Tonsils to enlarge. With Tonsillitis, the health certainly decreased and you feel feverish and lethargic. Nevertheless, the show must go on despite all these hiccoughs, no?
Initially, my turn to present the assignment 3 – “Comparative Study Between Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMUC) & Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL)” was scheduled circa early May, so I put my focus more into the Assignment 2 on the ‘Sports Tourism- Muay Thai’ and other subjects. But last week on 22nd April 2015, Ajie told me a shocking revelation that our lecturer wanted us to present next week, on 29th April 2015 (which is tonight, by the way)! I was certainly flabbergasted and FREAK-OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How on earth are we supposed to pull this off within a week without any confirmation dates for the people for us to interview????

Being the cliche me, I began to worry and at the same time, thinking hard to slither out from the mess! I began advertising a few statuses in Facebook asking if anyone knew anyone who is Corporate Communication practitioner in any private universities. Although a few Good Samaritans suggested a few names but the commencement for leads proved to no avail. Ajie who is targeting Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) was having problems as well. Despite trying to negotiate with the IUKL key people for an interview, Ajie was kept shunned out by IUKL (snowballed here and there without any certainties).

On Thursday, 23rd April 2015 – In the end, I contacted my coursemate Fazlin Shasha or affectionately known as Sha. I felt bad because I know her workload must be hectic as she is the Head of English Language Department in KLMUC but I really needed her help to scout for the Corporate Communication practitioner in KLMUC. She told me that there is no special division that really managed Corporate Communication affairs but she would try her best to find the key persons who handled that as I was really DESPERATE (I only had 4 days to prepare; minus Saturday & Sunday!) as I would be presenting this on 29th April!!! Eeeekks! At the same time, I have been doing a little bit of background reading on KLMUC and it was enthralling to know that it is a subsidiary in Cosmopoint Group Sdn. Bhd.
Our slide show. Hmmm…. (,”)
On Friday, 24th April 2015 – Alhamdulillah after my Friday Prayer, Sha messaged me that after exhausting her connections to her utmost level, she finally managed to find someone for me to interview! This session was not easy to secure and to witness her effort to really help me in this; make me so touched. Of course, she is inside KLMUC but to secure an interview session – with the parent company’s officer (Cosmopoint Group Sdn. Bhd.) ; within limited time – well, that speaks the strings she had pulled for me to make it works!
We met on Sunday at the faculty to discuss. Using every available time we had to pull this presentation – with preparation less than a week. We also had inkling of doubts whether we could do this or not; but the show must go on.
In our “Principles of Advertising” class, Sha told me that I am going to interview Mr. Mohd Zulkifli Abd Jalil or famously known as M.Zul who was once the Malaysia Hari Ini (MHI) TV anchor. I googled him and my mind flashed back in 2010-2011 when I was an avid audience of MHI (as I was getting ready for school, I would switch on the television of Morning Sermon and MHI). Am I going to meet this guy that I watched in television 4 years ago? Haha, goosebumps!
Apparently, Mr. M.Zul was also one of the brains behind the unleashing of Gua.my. Courtesy of Google Image.
On Monday, 27th April 2015 – I asked permission from my Headmistress to go out from school at 12.00 p.m. So happened that it was the 1st day of Additional Sport in SK Serendah; so you can imagine the tiredness I felt as my school is a big school with approximately 600++ pupils, just for the morning session alone! So, drove to KLMUC and with the congested traffic, I managed to arrive at Jalan Raja Laut around 2.15 p.m. But I was in the middle lane and I can’t turn right to enter KLMUC as big lorry refused to give way and in KL, you can’t idle at the middle of the road! So, reluctantly I drove my car and somehow, when I used Waze to go back to KLMUC, it led me all the way to Damansara Height and Mont Kiara where INTAN Kuala Lumpur is located!!!!!!!!!

Damn, I became freak-out!! I only have another 15 minutes before 2.30 p.m. (I can’t be late because I am the interviewer and I can’t let the interviewee waiting, no??) and I was far from Jalan Raja Laut, stranded in Damansara Height! But of course, with focus and channeling the Fast & Furious spirit, I drove as fast as I can, using Waze and a few glimpse of direction boards! AMAZINGLY within 19 minutes, I managed to make way back to Jalan Raja Laut – but of course with a lot of reckless driving!
During the presentation tonight. Picture by Didi. Hahaha! Thanks! This is all for my own documentation salvation in my blog.
Met with Sha and she ushered me to meet Mr. M.Zul who happened to be the Director of KLMUC Programme Development. I have to say that I was starstruck and quite nervous. I didn’t watch ’50 Shades Of Grey’ film version but I read the mundane novel out of curiosity with all the hypes (REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2012/09/28/the-new-literature-of-modern-masochism-kama-sutra-50-shades-of-grey-by-e-l-james/) – I felt like the meek Anastasia Steele with the gullible and naivety facade. Haha! Coming from a Science background as a Microbiology degree holder, I still consider my knowledge in Mass Communication is a bit limited; so I was struggling to ease myself with the questions. Such amateur, isn’t it? Haha! But Mr M.Zul was very friendly and generous in sharing information. To be engaged in casual interview with someone who has vast experience in corporate branding & strategies (as he used to be in Media Prima. Do you know that the name “Tonton” for the Media Prima Live TV at http://www.tonton.com.my/ was his idea?) but approachable was very endearing. I guess in life, you don;t have to be snobbish even if you are on top of your game. That is the key to make people respect and drawn to you. Charisma isn’t in facade; it also emits through down-to-earth debonair. Thank you Mr M.Zul for your cooperation and thanks so much Sha for your wonderful help!
I guess I can’t help with the androgynous stature. Haha! What the heck……… (,”)
As for Ajie, he had quite dramatic experience. Mr CK who have been shunning Ajie for the interview session said he was not available. As last resort, Ajie had to consult to his lecturer (he was an ex-IUKL student) about the matter. Apparently I guess that his lecturer had authoritative power upon Mr CK; so reluctantly Mr CK had to grant Ajie an interview! Whoa, talk about pulling some strings! But of course Mr CK kept ridiculing and bashed Ajie by commenting on the questions posed, etc but being the adamant Ajie, he just deafen his ears and went for it. That’s why I salute Ajie. Imagine that although he was sick and his son was having chicken pox, he still spent time to discuss this project. Dedication!
Yeay, I can’t believed that Ajie and I managed to slither out from this mess that has been haunting us for a week! Alhamdulillah. Thanks to Mr M.Zul as well as Sha for being so generous in securing this session. You are such a life-saviour!
So tonight, we presented the case despite our knees shaken as we felt dwarved in comparison to our peers’ presentation (with statistical data, corporate comparison analyses, etc). Two questions were posed in regard on IUKL (well, KLMUC was spared from the spears of questions! Yeay!) but we managed to control the situation by correcting certain terminologies involved. On whole, what a relief! (,”)
