I am a very expressive person. I get overwhelmed by people’s sufferings and woes. Just now I was driving from Precint Diplomatik back to Precint 14 and I heard the breaking news in IKIM.fm – a body of one of our Malaysian Hajj entourage members is identified among the dead due to the collapse of a crane at Makkah al-Mukarramah somewhere near the Babussalam Gate on Friday, 11th September, Malaysian time.
ALLAH Hu Akbar! Bless your souls, brave ones.
According to CNN news and other reporting news; apparently, a strong thunderstorm hit Makkah with combination of a few catastrophic atmospheric conditions; bringing gusty winds that shifted direction and caused local temperatures to drop. This particular thunderstorm was said to be developed over the Asir Mountains; south of Makkah before it drifted northwards. According to Al-Jazeera, theoretically the tower crane should be able to withstand the gusts of 83km/h. Therefore this incident certainly raises eyebrows- though the act of nature is not be ruled out – but the sturdiness of the other tower cranes in the compound of Makkah al-Mukarramah are certainly need to be investigated, especially when the Haj pilgrimage is about to commence anytime sooner.
It is sad because performing Hajj is any observant Moslem’s dream and it is automatically a compulsory act if the Moslem could afford to go (financially and physically fit). Nevertheless when this happened, the family of the deceased must be heartbroken (I imagined the melancholic feeling I had when both my parents set to perform Hajj on 2012; REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2012/09/23/the-bride-of-the-red-sea-episode-iv-the-calls-of-the-black-house-parents-performing-hajj-labbaikallah-humma-labbaik/) although we always say that ‘the dream is to die in Makkah’. But of course as Moslem, we believe in Qada’ & Qadar – what destined by ALLAH SWT are accepted with open heart.
However, I do hope that the Saudi Arabian government will give a concrete explanation regarding this and not to dwell into the excuse that ‘everything happens due to act of God.’ Hajj pilgrimage serves as Makkah’s most lucrative economical contributor from the total income generated by the city (REFER to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mecca#Incidents_during_Pilgrimage) with millions of Moslems around the world throng the city due to the faith of the religion despite the harsh hostility and treatment by the Arabs (well, I experienced one when I performed Umrah last year; REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2014/07/05/the-bride-of-the-red-sea-episode-xviii-the-2014-umrah-part-iii-tongue-duelling-the-arabian-daddy-3rd-pilgrimage-of-tanaim-as-miqat-the-depth-of-a-mothers-love/). Therefore, it is logical that Saudi Arabia owes us an EXPLANATION!
Thunderstorm and sandstorm in Makkah. September until December, especially during autumn are the periods where Makkah atmospheric climate is unfavourable to the residents. Coincidentally, that is when the Hajj Pilgrimage is to commence.
I pray that the other 7 remaining missing Malaysian Hajj entourage members to be found and unscathed, Insya ALLAH. To the families of the late Rusiah Suar, 56 years old from Sungkai; I would like to express my condolence. Inalillah, everyone eventually goes back to ALLAH SWT.
NOTIFICATION UPDATE (I)
I just arrived from Putrajaya to Serendah. It was hazy! Despite my enlarging Tonsil and lethargy, I managed to drive home. So sad now that I have found out that another 3 Malaysians are identified as among the dead :-
- Siti Nuroshlizan Zolkifli;
- Rohana Ismail and
- Munah Jusoh
Nobody knows when death strikes us. Little they knew that when they bid farewell to their families in Malaysia, it would be the last time. I feel sad and the pain. May ALLAH SWT grants them Jannah. Amin.
NOTIFICATION UPDATE (II)
Finally, all the six Malaysia Hajj entourage members are identified. Inalillah, everyone goes back to ALLAH SWT. Heart-wrenching but that is the fact of life.
