I am actually not in the mood of writing a blog; as I am all surrounded with unfinished errands and chaotic life and unhealthy situations due to the haze. But I can’t miss this when I saw a news that is quite attractive to my interest – that is Integrated Marketing Communication.
Apparently, Pepsi is releasing its new limited edition Pepsi Perfect; which actually happened to be an imaginary product displayed in the 1985-released “Back To The Future (II)” when Marty travelled to the supposed future which was in 2015 (Hahahaha!). In conjunction with the date 21st October 2015 which was displayed in the time-travelling DeLorean Dr. Emmett created, Pepsi is “playing with the historical date of Hollywood cinemas” by releasing the Pepsi Perfect, for real.
The date displayed on Dr. Emmett’s DeLorean dashboard!
My coursemates and I have learned about this kind of cooperation. It is called ‘Product Placement” where companies will work together with movie-makers to put their products in the films or dramas to be featured for the eyes of the audience. Now that is one way to communicate with the customers, no? I’ve always get fascinated with Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) and I’ve written entries on the topic, such as :
As depicted in “Back To The Future II” released in 1985; Marty McFly (Michael J.Fox) took a Pepsi Perfect in an 80s cafe in 2015. Hhahaah! We, the 80s and 90s could relate to this film!!! Wow! Haha! Didn’t we all imagine our future to be so high-technology??! I remembered an Australian kid movie that my sister and I used to see about time travelling as well – “A Girl From Tomorrow”.
- My group’s presentation for the IMC class on “NIKE’s Dilemma : The Tiger Woods’ Sex Scandal” (REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2014/11/29/integrated-marketing-communication-kom-5325-presentation-nikes-dilemma-the-tiger-woods-sex-scandal/);
- Qu Puteh’s sponsorship on Juara Lagu uproar – from the perspective of our local IMC (REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2015/01/20/qu-puteh-the-controversial-tagline-advertisement-of-a-local-beauty-product-an-academic-perspective-of-a-greenhorn-communications-scholar-aspirant/).
- PEPSI collaboration with Beyonce on “Mirror” for Pepsi Max Campaign (REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2015/04/03/beyonce-a-grown-wman-in-pepsi-max-life-for-now-advertisement-campaign-the-academic-discussions-principles-of-advertising-kom-5323/).
Product placement. This is Integrated Marketing Communication.
So, now I guess I couldn’t shun this epic limited release of Pepsi Perfect hullabaloo; although I am not in the mood to write a blog entry. And, imagine as a 80s and 90s kid – seeing the DATE in “Back To The Future II” and be able to actually live to that VERY date – and to mention to laugh about all those imaginative futuristic props that are still non-existent to these days in the year 2015! Haha! Amazing!
