Celine Dion is one of my most favorite chanteuses of all time. Why? Because she sings from her heart. Her goal is to deliver her songs for her fans. On top of that, she is an open book. She shares her excitement and anxiety with her fans. But most of all was her utmost dedication to Rene Angelil, the only man she falls in love – the man who discovered her talents at the age of 12 years old and mortgaged his OWN HOUSE to finance the launching of her singing career.
During her younger days in early 1980s. Before the love blossomed.
I have written about her on 2012 at https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2012/12/22/the-chanteuse-who-fights-against-all-odds-celine-dion-the-lady-who-dares-to-dream/. I also quipped on her dedication to Rene Angelil in my Instagram. It is both sad yet encouraging to see her braving the hard experience with dignity. In August 2015, Celine opened up about the possibility of Rene to die “in her arms” but “he wanted her to live her life to entertain the fans in Caesar Palace”. I can vouch that reading her dedication has somehow injected great deals of motivation for myself as well as I am coping to be a loyal confidant for someone I treasure dearly in my life who is now battling with ailment. To flirt for brief scandals is easy but to find someone who is willing to share your ups and downs is hard. So treasure them when they most need you.

I was so immersed with the final touch up of my Mini Thesis (finally!) “Malaysian Moslems’ Perception Towards Cadbury’s Image Repair & Its Halal Image” lately. I was shocked when I saw a news snippet in Facebook today saying that Rene Angelil just passed away. So sad. I don’t know, perhaps I have strong empathy. I feel Celine’s emotion. To have someone that important in your life to pass away; and what’s more, he was the greatest influence in her musical career!
When they first disclosed their relationship, of course it was such an uproar for Celine Dion, the budding international star with an older manager, Rene Angelil. But they finally cemented the wedding vow, with her song “The Colour of My Love” as the wedding song, penned by David Foster. I remember in one of interviews that Foster gave that he had never seen Celine bat an eye towards another man and you are talking about entertainment industry where there are abundant of beautiful people!
I hope Celine finds her strength and continues to mesmerize us with her songs. I know it is hard for her especially since Rene was the one who managed her career all these while. After the death of Karine, her niece due to cystic fibrosis, this should be another heart-wrenching episode in her life. But I know she will be bounce back after sometimes. I like to emulate that strength in my life. This is a lesson for me to prepare for the demise of my loved ones. It is hard but I have to bear in mind that someday, this happens.
Fly, fly little wing
Fly beyond imagining
The softest cloud, the whitest dove
Upon the wind of heaven’s love
Past the planets and the stars
Leave this lonely world of ours
Escape the sorrow and the pain
And fly again
Fly, fly precious one
Your endless journey has begun
Take your gentle happiness
Far too beautiful for this
Cross over to the other shore
There is peace forevermore
But hold this mem’ry bittersweet
Until we meet
Fly, fly do not fear
Don’t waste a breath, don’t shed a tear
Your heart is pure, your soul is free
Be on your way, don’t wait for me
Above the universe you’ll climb
On beyond the hands of time
The moon will rise, the sun will set
But I won’t forget
Fly, fly little wing
Fly where only angels sing
Fly away, the time is right
Go now, find the light
