Subhanallah. God is Great! Today, I witnessed the so-called relationship between human and cat. All these while, I’ve been bombarded with that stories but today I can testify that the bond is there.
Taman Suria to Darulaman Golf & Country Club is around 7-8 kilometers away! Goosebumps!
For the past 2 weeks, Duchess & Oscar have gone missing. Ayah went back to Jitra after settling things at Serendah. He brought both Duchess & Oscar along in the car. One night, a friend invited Ayah to have supper; so he went out without putting both of them back into the cage. Usually, Mak will cage them before nightfall as according to Mak, the cats would be “extra active” during night (nocturnal spirits, perhaps?). So happened that on that night, Ayah overlooked that. When he came back, only Duchess remained while Oscar has gone lost somewhere. Ayah thought Oscar would come back the next day but he remained missing…. until today.
As for Duchess, so happened that when Ayah was to chauffeur Pak Cik Sani’s children at Darulaman Golf & Country Club residence; she actually leaped into the car without Ayah’s acknowledgement. Probably Duchess was shocked when she heard the fighting between Pak Cik Sani’s children, she leaped out from the car the moment Ayah opened the door at Darulaman Golf & Country Club residence!! Ayah tried to coax her but she did not kowtow as Duchess does not gel well with strangers (Pak Cik Sani’s children) and she got easily shocked by eleventh hour occurrences.
Breakfast at Kepala Batas, Kedah upon our arrival, albeit separate flights!
So for the past two weeks, Ayah told us there was no news about them. Mak & I got restless in the Central Region. I even posted about their losses in the Facebook Page “Saya Orang Jitra” (REFER to https://www.facebook.com/groups/361244156711/). So when Mak told me that she was planning to go back to Kedah on Deepavali (which is today, 10th November 2015) with Rifqi (to be circumcised! lol!); I thought of joining of them. So, the plan was that Mak & Rifqi were to board MAS as Kakak booked for them while I was to board Air Asia. We arrived at the Putrajaya ERL Station at 6.00 a.m. but unfortunately we missed the train to KLIA/KLIA2! So we split up – Kakak was to chauffeur Mak & Rifqi whilst I chartered a taxi. It was definitely an Amazing Race! Alhamdulillah, I arrived on time whereas Kakak with her telephone broken and GPS/Waze malfunctioning, they got lost for 3 times but Alhamdulillah managed to arrive at KLIA just in the nick of time! Phew, talk about early morning adrenaline rush, y’all!
Duchess getting herself cozy. Finally after two weeks of being a stray cat, she is finally home. She is so thin and scrawny in comparison to her usual body size. I am glad I’ve decided to come home for her.
So when we arrived in Kedah (albeit via separate flights); we thought to give it a try at Darulaman Golf & Country Club (DGCC) although it would be fat chance for us to find Duchess. As for me, I was quite shocked because I never knew that Duchess was lost in DGCC because all this while, I thought she was lost circa the nearby neighbourhood area in Taman Suria Fasa 3! Imagine a distance of 7-8 km away! Nevertheless, I went out and started to meow using my usual high-pitch voice which is familiar to both Duchess & Oscar. Subhanallah; around less than 10 minutes, I saw a familiar cat emerged. That was my Duchess! She came nearby but she was hesitated. Probably because she was still in dazed but the calling has nonetheless, aroused her attention. She just sat quietly observing me meowing (as for cautions). Around 15 minutes passed but still she did not move from the spot, simply looked at me.
Rifqi and Duchess. Now, she is the only one remain. Where’s Oscar? Goodness knows. God bless him.
Then, Mak decided to intervene. She trespassed the Chinese’s residence (but we asked the Indonesian maid’s permission!) and went near Duchess and coaxed her and meowed softly. Surprisingly, Duchess responded to Mak and came near her. I followed Mak and climbed the fence and managed to coax Duchess and she came to me. She was so thin and scrawny! But when Mak excitedly came for her, Duchess who is easily got disturbed by any shocking sudden movements, became panicked and escaped away from my embrace! So we had to coax her back but as if she knew us, Duchess suddenly coiled herself on the floor inviting me to pet her. I took hold of her and coaxed her with soft words. Finally, she succumbed and we finally got hold on her!
When I found her, the nose was quite brownish. I guess after adequate meal and sustenance, the nose becomes pinkish again. Perhaps it is a sign of being healthy for cats?
Throughout the journey, Duchess was trembling. Mak said that Duchess was so scrawny and unhealthy and her fur was unkempt. Perhaps she was having trouble of finding food. After all, she always gave way to Oscar and her kids first to eat and she would eat the leftovers.
Thanks to my neighbour, Kak Nora for her endless prayers as well. Some people may find this laughable but when cats are part of your family, we can’t resist of having our emotional attached to them. God’s creatures; we are to take care of them. God bless.
On whole, Mak, Ayah & I are relieved at least we have found Duchess. As for Oscar, I keep miaowing throughout the neighbourhood; in case if he heard me. Perhaps tomorrow I will try scouting the whole neighbourhood. If Duchess die because of the natural causes, we would be OK but if she lost due to unbeknownst reasons, it would be so sad. And that’s what we feel about Oscar. But hopefully, he would end up well. Amin.
