I am a spontaneous person. I don’t know. Maybe you can dub this as my Pocahontas moment. Haha! I have always heard about Fraser’s Hill and curious about it.

I read in few blogs and most of them stated that it is quite mundane up there and the roads lead to the apex are curvy and steep. I was quite intimidated but today, I suddenly felt the jolt of exploring this to assuage my curiosity! One thing for sure; I don’t really like listening to hearsay (example, movie reviews). People may say certain things as bad or unfavourable BUT I’ve got to see and feel that myself to vouch the views! Haha, that’s me!

Since Batang Kali is just 11 kilometer away from Kuala Kubu Bharu, the focal point of our dear good ole Hulu Selangor; I took the en route from Kuala Kubu Bharu. Along the way, I saw the Kuala Kubu Bharu Dam which is apparently seemed quite shallow. Probably due to the recent El Nino phenomenon. Well, all I can say is that I felt like I was driving FOR AGES! Almost two hours with the steep-and-curvy roads and not to mention once you reach The Gap (an intermediate location to the apex), the road was just one-way-road!!
So cute. Seems like a provincial township just like in Katoomba, New South Wales; the township for Blue Mountain (REFER to https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2013/12/16/filial-piety-aurora-australis-part-v-aboriginal-folktale-three-sisters-blue-mountains-halal-malaysian-moslem-kasturi-cafe-valentine-on-george/).
A very cooling atmosphere. Very healing for my deteriorating skin. Haha.
Well, the small township was super idyllic. Tranquility at its essence! Of course there was this iconic clock tower covered with creeping greenery and then a police station, post office, Maybank branch and resorts. Beautiful flowers ala temperate countries were visible and added to its “foreign ambiance”. Some British Colonial era constructions were still sturdy and for historical freaks, that would definitely transported you back to the historical era. I had that mental image of Louis James Fraser, the Briton who explored this apex of the hill in the end of 1890s. Imagine the scenario in those years with limited transportation, etc! Actually I love the serenity up there. It is an ideal place for mind rejuvenation and relaxation. But thinking about the nauseating winding roads I have to bear heading towards the apex, perhaps I will restrain myself from Fraser’s Hill in the nearest future! Haha! On whole, I feel quite happy that I finally assuaged my curiosity; well at least my curiosity does not involve any busybody-ing, no? LMAO! I only care for my own affairs!
Bumped into this Air Terjun Semangkuk (Semangkuk Waterfall) on the way up and down to the apex of Fraser’s Hill. Quite deserted.

There is a school here. I wonder how the teachers commute to Kuala Kubu Bharu? I remember seeing a teacher from Fraser’s Hill attended a meeting at Kuala Kubu Bharu 2 years ago.
Subhanallah. God’s creation. So beautiful. It is always fun to explore the world (I can’t wait for two vacations! This July and December!) but nothing beats your own backyard, no? I love Malaysia.
Throughout the journey, I listened to Sheila Majid’s beautiful song “Hitam Putih Kehidupan” which means The Black and White of Life. The lyrics speak about how one should appreciate the beauty of the world and reflects God’s creation rather than being cooped in negativity cocoon. I can vouch that this song solely brings me out from the depression; thanks to Kak Airin for suggesting this song via Facebook (in response of my numerous rantings!) :-
