Actually, my birthday is on 1st of June. The anniversary to mark the years I’ve been breathing the air in the world God SWT has created. It’s not a family tradition to celebrate birthdays; merely is that we do some ‘special cooking of special food’ and wish amongst our family members. To do a party is an alien thing, especially a SURPRISE PARTY. But, this year I have tasted one myself.
A wonderful gift from 5 Brilliant 2012 to me. Thanks my dear pupils. Sir loves y’all. (,”)
The last day of the term was on 25th May 2012. I’ve been so busy because on the evening, we would be organizing a farewell event for few colleagues who were about to retire and some were moving to another schools. Therefore of course, I myself was again being selected as the Master Of Ceremony (MC) for the evening which happened to be graced by an officer from Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah. Nevertheless on that day, a few pupils kept asking me whether my birthday was on that day and a few colleagues did wish me…. I was a bit flabbergasted and wondering; I told them that it was not my birthday as my birthday is in 1st of June. So, well…the last period was of course with my own class 5 Brilliant; 3 periods of English. I was a bit late and hurried myself bringing tonnes of books and all, climbing the stairs to the class…..
The foods and drinks were their own ideas. They brought from home and I was so mortified and touched by that warm gesture. Trying to pose as if I was cutting the Baskin Robbins chocolate cake but my hand was shaken, HONESTLY!
Passed 5 Active which was at the side of my class and they chanted “happy birthday Sir” and I was like…haaa, what was going on? 5 Brilliant was kept shut and I was wondering where would the kids gone to…..so I sort of grabbed the door and tried to open and when it was opened, I got a shock of my life with the chants :
“SURPRISE!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SIR SHAHRILL!!!!”
There were party poppers and some confetti and I was stupefied and mortified. SPEECHLESS! And the kids sang birthday song to me. I was touched and moved and my body was shaken and my eyes watered. I NEVER thought the kids would be doing this and I saw a lot of foods and drinks and a chocolate cake of Baskin Robbins were put on the aligned desks! OH MY GOD….. I was shaken because I was touched. I never had this kind of surprise birthday party and to be having that from your pupils was an icing of the cake, really….. The emotion was indescribable. And my fingers were shaken like hell!
The kids were helping themselves!
The kids asked me to cut the cake and jokingly asked WHY my hands were shaken. Hahahaha…what do you know? A discipline teacher who is usually stern and strict with rules was humbled with that thoughtfulness and shaken like mad. Hahahaha! But seriously, Goodness knows how I felt. Unexpected that the kids at 5 Brilliant would go to that length of effort just to please me…… Perhaps, they could see that I’ve been working hard to be a good and a best class teacher as possible; although it is hard to execute that perfectly; but it was really sweet, actually.
The effort to buy the balloons? Priceless. Sir honestly touched with that gesture. Not the materials per se; but the thoughts…. Thanks dear pupils.

Utba & Shah Nazim were posing with my camera that they took while I was busy distributing the cake and cookies. Hahahaha…

It was undeniably chaotic in the class. And Sya, my colleague happened to be in the class, perhaps helping the kids to arrange the desks and all. You know, all the hard work was alleviated by that warm thoughts….sincerely, Sir appreciates what you guys did. I love 5 Brilliant 2012 and Sir will always remember the warm gesture. Love y’all, 5 Brilliant 2012! Sir will try to improve myself as a better teacher and a better guardian in the school, Insya ALLAH. (,”)

The dedication from 5 Brilliant. Awww….so sweet. Really….Â
Anyway, on the evening from 2.45 p.m until 5.00 p.m, the school conducted a farewell party/event for our colleague, Kak Hanifah who was about to retire; as well as the ones who already moved to another school like Cikgu Azmi and Kak Hanisah, the clerk. Alhamdulillah, I managed to execute my responsibility as the MC of the event although sometimes it was a bit helter-skelter as new orders would be squeezed in in the nick of time; or new slots; or changes of plans in tentative; or additional must-be-announced “compulsory names” to avoid issues, etc; and many more. Nevertheless, Alhamdulillah, Headmaster and the GPKs were satisfied with the way I anchored the event. I guess it was a smooth-flowing event and the objective to commemorate and to dignify Kak Hanifah’s retirement was a success. Alhamdulillah!

At 8.00 p.m until 10.00 p.m., I have Science Night Class and then Ayah & Mak arrived at my house for Kak Alia’s wedding on 26th May. We pushed off from Serendah with 2 cars separately circa 11.30 p.m. and reached Putrajaya around 1.00 a.m. It was indeed an exhausting day to lead a hectic schedule!
The newly-wed and I. Kak Alia and her husband. Congratulations!
So, today we went to Melaka Perdana in Ayer Keroh which happened to be Abang Anuar’s residence. It was a big residence and Abang Nuar’s political peer such as Senator Ezam Mohamad was there. On whole, it was a nice get-together  with relatives and getting to know new relatives as well. Congratulations to Kak Alia, one of my favourite cousin ( we practically have a lot of memories together during childhood!). May ALLAH SWT bless your marriage, Kak Lia! (,”)
