Today on Friday, 8th October 2010 marks the finale of Syawal 1431 Hijrah. In conjunction with that, the school decides to commemorate that with the Inter-Classes Aidilfitri Celebration where each class is to do it’s own celebration with the class teacher ala Open Class (modified version of Open House, I reckon). All I have to say, I enjoyed the day immensely and to be welcomed by pupils to their classes was simply an honor and I was deeply moved by that. It was certainly the day where everyone in SK Serendah feasted on tonnes of foods one can hardly imagine! I managed to visit the classes I teach for Science (5 Creative, 5 Dynamic & 5 Gallant) and English (4 Creative & 4 Flexible)!

I started my touring from 5 Creative (Science). I was a bit flabbergasted by the decorations donned in the classroom as well as the ‘Raya feel’ injected via music on air. The Raya songs certainly add to the Raya atmosphere and there were tonnes of varicolored snacks, cakes, chocolates and beverages! I entertained myself with “mee goreng”, “beehoon goreng”, watermelon, chocolates and some Raya cookies (Almond London-lookalike!). On top of that, 5 Creative themselves had performances for the Raya feast; performing Raya songs. Amazing; indeed they are all creative lots! Kudos to Kak Kartini and 5 Creative for a fantastic feast!

Next, I moved to 4 Creative (English) which of course rely on Living Skills Workshop as the ‘den’ for their Raya feast. The kids were crying frantically when I came because I did promise them that I will visit their Open Class. Again, I feasted on “beehoon goreng” and some guava. Thanks Kak Sarimah and 4 Creative for inviting Sir!

Along the corridor I moved towards 5 Dynamic (Science); passing the blacklisted 5 Efficient OF COURSE !!!!!! (Refer to “Metamorphosis As A Malaysian Teacher : Penalties. Parents. Police Report.” July entry ; https://undomiel84.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/metamorphosis-as-a-malaysian-teacher-penalties-parents-police-report/). The kids like usual were very welcoming and I must say I was very moved by that. Although I was so full, I ate some of the “Mee Kuah” to not disappointing the kids. They were eager to let me taste every foods brought but honestly I couldn’t do that since the stomach was so full and I still have another 2 classes to go. Thanks 5 Dynamic!

Then, I moved to 5 Gallant (Science) who cried instantaneously the moment I entered the class. That’s why I love slow-learner pupils because they know HOW TO APPRECIATE THE TEACHERS. Everyone keeps tossing the foods and I barely could breathe! Kanageswary especially was becoming like a ‘mother mode’ and keep asking what foods/beverages I wanted. Hahahahaha! I was happy to see the multiracial polarization in 5 Gallant; seeing the Malays and the Indians feasting Hari Raya together. Such innocence lies in the heart of our youngsters but no more to be found in the hearts of prejudiced adults, right? Shouldn’t we treasure these and learn from the youngsters? Sometimes when I see them; how I wish all of us were small kids and surrounded by innocence and prejudice-free. If only. Anyway, thanks to 5 Gallant!

Finally, I went to visit 4 Flexible (English). The kids were very welcoming; calling my name and took my hands and took out the chair and let me sat on it. I totally felt like I was a king and seeing my 4 Flexible pupils treating me like that certainly make make moved (Cliche, I know! But I can’t help it!); Fais was busy commanding to others to make sure I was well-fed! I feasted on satay and Raya cookies there! Amazing serve by 4 Flexible! TQ Kak Norliza and 4 Flexible for the wonderful treat for Sir.

In addition to that, I also visited 4 Gallant & 4 Active on the courtesy of the teachers’ (Kak Aznor & Kak Sue) invitation. Tom Yam at 4 Gallant & Mushroom soup at 4 Active! I was full! Above all, I enjoyed the event immensely. Thanks y’all for inviting Sir! (,”)
